Hearth Yarns is published by bazzaztech (ABN 16 831 278 845), Australia. We take privacy seriously — particularly when it comes to voice recordings and children.
What we collect
Hearth Yarns is designed to collect as little data as possible:
- No account required. You do not need to create an account to use the app.
- No personally identifiable information is collected or stored by us.
- Anonymous install ID. A random ID is generated on first launch and used solely to enforce per-device rate limits on story generation. It is never linked to your identity.
- Crash reports (optional, opt-out in Settings). If enabled, anonymised crash data is sent to help us fix bugs. No personal data is included.
Voice recordings
This is our most important commitment:
- Your voice recording is transmitted to our private cloud storage and then to our voice synthesis provider (Cartesia) to narrate your story.
- The recording is deleted from Cartesia's systems immediately after your story is narrated — typically within 30–60 seconds.
- Your voice recording is held in our private Cloudflare R2 storage only for the duration of synthesis (under 3 minutes), then permanently deleted. It is never exposed publicly.
- The finished story audio (narrated in your voice) is held in our private Cloudflare R2 storage for up to 24 hours to allow delivery to your device, then permanently deleted. It is not stored beyond that window.
- We cannot retrieve, replay, or share your voice — by design.
Stories and generated content
- Custom stories you generate are stored on your device only.
- Story prompts you enter may be sent to Anthropic (Claude) to generate the story text. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to that processing.
- Story artwork is generated by Replicate or OpenAI depending on your story tier, held in our private Cloudflare R2 storage for up to 24 hours for delivery to your device, then permanently deleted.
Children's privacy
Hearth Yarns is intended for use by parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. No child's name, image, or voice is collected or stored by us. The voice clone feature is intended for the parent or adult caregiver only.
Purchase data
Payments are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We receive only a purchase token to verify the transaction. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

Data retention
We retain minimal server-side data:
- Anonymous install IDs and API request logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes, then deleted.
- Purchase tokens are retained for the life of the transaction for dispute resolution.
- Voice recordings: held in private Cloudflare R2 for under 3 minutes during synthesis, then permanently deleted.
- Story audio and artwork: held in private Cloudflare R2 for up to 24 hours for delivery, then permanently deleted.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data linked to your identity, there is nothing to retrieve, correct, or delete on our end. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].
